"I really wanted this to work better..."
I really wanted this to work better, but the search filters have been a pain. I’ll put in specific dates and hookups, then still get campsites that don’t match or are already booked. It makes the whole process take way longer than it should just to find a decent spot

"Check-in info could’ve been clearer"
I used ReserveAmerica to book a weekend campground spot, and the booking part was fine enough. I don’t think I was expecting anything fancy, just a clear place to reserve and know what to do when we arrived. The frustrating part was that the check-in times and instructions on the site didn’t really line up with what the campground office told us once we got there.
We ended up having to make a few calls and sit at the gate for a while, which felt unnecessary after a long drive. I get that campgrounds can have their own rules and things change, so I’m not trying to make it sound like the whole trip was ruined, but the information should’ve been more accurate. It worked out eventually, but the arrival process was messier than it needed to be

"Campsite info was totally accurate"
The campsite was exactly like the photos and notes showed. The size, shade, and how far it was from the bathroom were all spot on. It made choosing a spot way easier.

"Amenities were pretty much spot on"
The info listed was accurate, and the amenities matched what we actually found when we got there. No surprises, which was nice

"The accessibility info turned out to be right"
I used reserveamerica to book a campsite for my dad since he needs accessible bathrooms and a fairly flat path. I’ll admit, I was kind of second-guessing the whole thing before we got there because those details aren’t always accurate, but the info on the site actually matched what we found. That was a huge relief. The photos and notes helped too, even if it wasn’t anything fancy. It did what we needed and saved us from having to guess too much. I’d use it again.

"My snap judgment was that the whole process..."
My snap judgment was that the whole process was way more hassle than it should’ve been. I was stuck waiting forever, and by the time I got anywhere, my cart had already timed out.

"I booked through ReserveAmerica, the campsite was..."
I booked through ReserveAmerica, the campsite was pretty much exactly what I expected from the photos and description. The pad was flat, the table was clean, and the fire ring was right where it should be. I had a good feeling when I booked it, and thankfully there were no weird surprises when we got there

"Fair cancellation, no hassle :)"
I had to cancel my campsite kind of last minute, and the fees were exactly what they’d shown upfront. No surprises, no drama. The refund came through just fine too. it felt fair compared to other booking sites!

"I booked a campsite through ReserveAmerica and later..."
I booked a campsite through ReserveAmerica and later had to switch the dates. Compared to other travel or booking sites I’ve used, it wasn’t very obvious where to make the change. I ended up clicking around a lot, and a few options looked like they should’ve worked but just didn’t. I eventually figured it out, but it felt way more complicated than it needed to be.

"I had a camping reservation I..."
I had a camping reservation I couldn’t use, so I tried to transfer it to my brother, and it turned into a whole thing. The site itself worked fine enough, but it wasn’t clear if transferring was even allowed or how you’re supposed to do it. I reached out to support, but they didn’t really clear anything up. I just remember sitting there with my cooler still half-packed and one random can of baked beans on the counter, getting more annoyed by the minute. The rule feels unnecessarily strict and frustrating.

"I booked a campsite on reserveamerica..."
I booked a campsite on reserveamerica while I was kind of feeling pressured to get it done before the spot disappeared, so I really appreciated how clear the confirmation page was. The dates, site number, total paid, and check-in info were all easy to find right away. The email came through quickly too, which was a relief because I wasn’t left wondering if the booking actually went through

"Map is useful, but booking feels frustrating"
The map itself is helpful and works fine, but trying to pick actual campsites gets clunky and annoying. I feel kind of stupid for trusting that the process would be smooth, because it ended up being more frustrating than it should’ve been.

"Had a little password trouble, but it worked out"
I had some trouble resetting my password, which was annoying for about a few minutes. Support ended up helping me get back in though, so it was okay in the end.

"Pretty fair for booking during peak season"
I used ReserveAmerica to book a summer campsite, it felt fair overall. The good spots definitely disappear fast, but the bookings opened right when they said they would, and I didn’t get the sense that anyone was cutting ahead or gaming the system. A couple parts of the site felt clunky and kind of unnecessary, but it still got the job done.

"Pretty good at keeping me posted"
I don’t remember every single update, but I do remember the emails coming through quickly whenever something changed. Nothing really stood out as a problem, so overall I felt kept in the loop

"A little confusing, but I still got my spot"
The site was being weird at first and kept throwing errors, then at some point it seemed like it went down completely. I can’t remember if I tried again later that night or the next day, but when I came back, my reservation finally went through without much trouble. It was definitely annoying in the moment, but it worked out in the end.

"I found the campground I wanted pretty..."
I found the campground I wanted quickly, and the whole booking process was really straightforward. The filters made it easy to narrow things down, if that makes sense, and checkout went through without any issues.

"Helpful photos and maps, with a small hiccup"
I really liked that the campsite photos were actually useful, and the maps made it way easier to figure out where I wanted to stay. I do wish there were maybe a few more details on some of the spots, because I still had to guess a little here and there. But overall, it saved me a lot of time and helped me pick a good campsite without feeling totally unsure.

"Booking a campsite was super easy"
I was looking for a campsite while sitting at the kitchen table with my coffee, and the whole reservation process ended up being really quick. I found the dates I needed fast, and checkout went through without giving me any weird issues. Painless overall

ReserveAmerica Q&A

It's really weird that a private company took over the whole federal and state park system's reservation. that was a great deal for them, someone made huge bucks to make that happen. how is that a private company can charge any amount they want for people who want to make a reservation in parks which are already managed by state or federal tax dollars? they can also charge if you update or cancel your reservation as they please. the fees are very high - $8/ reservation or $10 to change? how did this happen? how did they got this good deal? i am going to create a good reservation system, which would take a bit of work to program.... can i take over? nowadays fees are usually paid by the business and not the consumer. not in this case. since the prices of the parks are keep going up, and in many cases you pay $60-$75/night for an rv site in california, which is already more expensive than some motels, can't the government just create an online system which would not add additional fees? the most ridiculous thing is that they still sell out and booked all summer. there is no reason for them to change this.

I've been using reserveamerica for years. what have you done?? i've been trying to reserve a campsite for two days and all i'm getting is frustrated.
